An Introduction to:
<<Iranian Association of Rail transport Engineering>>
Considering its role in passenger and goods displacement , being
environment – friendly , fuel efficient and safe , railway industry has been
widely welcome and utilized all over the world.
Railway industry plays a major role in urban, suburban and inter-city
mass transit of developed countries. The substantial increase of demand for
transportation which followed urban development and cities expansion in Iran
persuaded officials and decision –makers to consider rail transportation as an
essential solution to the ever-increasing growth of urban population.
The importance of rail industry both as a logical response to demand and
an effective precondition for economic growth of the society led to
establishment of the Iranian Association of Rail Transport Engineering by the
late Dr .Dadman , the then minister of Road and Transportation and some other
industry experts.
As a scientific and research association, The Iranian Association of
Rail Transport Engineering was founded in Mordad 1379 (agust2000) under
permission by scientific Commission of The Ministry of Science, Research and
Technology with The following goal:

Creation and
development scientific and cultural relations among rail industry researchers
and specialists in national and international levels.
v
Encouraging
executive, educational, scientific and research bodies involved in railway
industries to share and exchange information and publish their achievements,
make out standard codes and regulation , and promote the projects in terms of
quality and quantity.

Encouraging
innovator and honoring distinguished researchers and industry masters.
v
Offering
transport related educational, research and economical service.
v
Organization
local and international conference.
v
Translation ,
education and publishing books and periodicals and international codes.
v
Training
railway specialists.
v
Supporting
competent railway industrialists and manufacturers.
v
Exchange of
views and cooperation with executive, decision making bodies as well as plan and
Budget Organization Islamic consultative Assembly(Parliament) and other
effective decision-making organization.

Organizing
domestic and international meetings, seminars, conference and exhibition in
collaboration with other institution and organizations.
v
Employing
updates of engineering Knowledge and compilation of standard codes.
v
Membership in
article 3( the law of maximum) secretariat.
v
Membership in
the (state High Council for Coordination of Transport) Sub commission.

Membership in
The Central Council of The States Scientific Association For the time being the
association includes 5 committees and 2 subcommittees .formation of another
committee is under consideration . The committees may be summarized as follows

Research
Committee:
The committee with its specialized working groups
deals with upgrading the knowledge of
experts, providing support for development of technical services, research
center , thinkers and masters of the rail industry towards enhancement of
research in the railway mass transit industry.

Education and
Engineering Services Committee:
The most important duties of this committee among
other are examination and identifying educational requirements and engineering
services, creation of data and information center, making out titles, syllabi
and educational leaflets and articles in railway engineering . the committee
includes specialized working groups. It also promotes IT and new technologies.

Public
Relations and information Dissemination Committee:
This committee provides printed materials for
other committees, collects news and updates of the rail industry and organizes
visits, interviews and news conferences.

Management
&Transportation Economy Committee:
Employing
scientific principle including economic engineering and management in the rail
transportation , planning strategic policies for development of rail
transportation sector, organizing education and research workshop in
transportation economy , identifying researchers and think tanks of
transportation economy and utilizing their talents and abilities in research
projects…. Are among the duties of this committee. The committee possesses
specialized working groups.

Membership
Committee:
This Committee deals with All aspects of
membership affairs. it also sets policies and comprehensive plans for provision
of and finding financial resources.
There are two different membership categories for
real persons and legal entitles .real person membership be subcategorized as
joined membership related membership quality fictions.
1-
Joined Membership
Universities faculty involved in rail industry
teaching or re search , holders of M.S.C degree in engineering or rail
transportation related and management capacities with at least two year
experience, and holders of B.Sc .degree with 4 years experience in railway
industry deserve joined membership.
2-Related Membership
Holders of B.SC degree in rail network and
related industries as well as those with bachelor degree and 2 years working
experience in related industries deserve this category of membership.
3- Student Membership
All undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate
students studying in rail transit related fields of any of the universities or
other higher education centers deserve student membership .
4- Honorary membership
Iranian or foreign individuals distinguished for
their scientific ranking in rail and transport industry or with effective and
considerable role in the promotion of association goals and objectives might be
granted honorary membership.
